Is it Safe to Take YAZ and Slimquick with Hoodia?10/21/2008 |
I have been taking Slimquick with Hoodia to loose some weight before my wedding. I was just put on YAZ birth control yesterday. Can I take the two together or will they interfere with one another?
No drug interactions have been reported with oral contraceptives such as Yaz and weight loss supplements like Slimquick with Hoodia.
Hoodia is an appetite supressant from the plant Hoodia gordonii cactus. Herbal products are not regulated like pharmaceutical drugs, and good safety information is often lacking. Hoodia extract has only recently been added to diet supplements. Interactions with conventional drugs may not have been reported during this time.
The Slimquick supplement is a source of caffeine. You may have to limit other sources of caffeine such as coffee, tea and carbonated beverages while you are on Slimquick.
Please talk to your family doctor or your pharmacist if you experience any bothersome side effects with your oral contraceptive and the weight loss supplement.
