Teeth Bonding10/07/2008 10:55AM |
How safe is this procedure? All cosmetic dentists tout it, but is it safe? Thank you
Bonding is safe, but it does involve the removal of some tooth structure. This is considered a conservative amount of tooth structure which is certainly less than a crown, but more than doing nothing. There are no materials in dentistry as good as natural tooth structure.
Bleaching may be tried if the goal of the bonding is to lighten teeth. If the goal is to change the alignment of teeth, Orthodontics may be done. If the goal is to change the shape and the shade, then bonding may be the best solution.
