Ridge on newborn scalp10/17/2008 |
My daughter is 2 weeks old. We have been getting A+ on all checkups. However I`ve noticed a ridge on the back of her head ( which seems to be more noticable, to the touch, at times) One of the nurse practitioners said something about feeling the ridges of the skull being normal. What do you say? We have our 2 week checkup tomorrow and I plan on asking the doctor this time also.
I totally agree! Especially if your daughter was born by vaginal delivery, this is very normal. Her skull bones are still slightly overlapped from the compression they received in the birth canal. As she grows and her brain develops, the skull bones will take their usual position and the ridge will smooth over.
