Tears of the meniscus11/12/2008 |
I had a MRI and was told that my posterior horn medial meniscus and the anterior horn lateral meniscus were torn. Also the anterior cruciate ligament is suspicious for a tear of that structure. I have very little pain but i still have a little bit of swelling (not much). How long typically does it take to recover from an injury like this?
Typically, these injuries require surgery. But, not everyone needs surgery. It depends on whether you have good use of your leg.
If you are not having surgery, your recovery could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. If you need surgery, 6 months for complete recovery is typical.
