Braces

Grayish discoloration after braces removed

10/24/2008

Question:

I had braces when I was a child in the 1970`s. My teeth were white prior to the braces. They took on a grayish color on the top third of the teeth (Upper and lower teeth) which did not go away once the braces were removed. I had cleaning and check ups every 6 months with her regular dentist. I had my teeth whitened professionally which did not help. I also had bonding done which wore off after a while. My son is about to get braces and I am wondering what caused the grayish discoloration in the first place and if this will happen to my son?

Answer:

You can rest assured that braces do not discolor the teeth.
