Dear Dr, Please explain if possible to get prescription for Pirfenidone which is not yet approved by FDA, but has been granted Orphan Drug.Thanks.
Pirfenidone is not currently available but was just approved by the Japanese equivilent of the FDA for use in Japan. If the CAPACITY study that is currently in completion phase shows that pirfenidone is effective in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, then the drug could be available some time in mid-2009.
