Prostate Cancer |
Overweight and in Need of Prostate Surgery11/05/2008 |
I have early stage prostate cancer. 2 of 10 cores (both from the same side) were positive on biopsy, PSA 4 (up from 3 in the past year), Gleason 6. I`m 5`10" tall and weight 273 lb. I`ve spoken with 2 surgeons and each has said that he wouldn`t operate because of my weight. Neither of them does laparascopic surgery- might this be a possible option for me?
Laparoscopic, robotic or perineal prostatectomy, radiation and radiosurgery are all options. Open prostates are sometimes difficult in overweight patients.
