Lower left stomach pain in a girl (10 yrs)

11/07/2008

Question:

My daughter has been having very sharp pains in the lower left side of her stomach. They come and go and last for a day or two. Then they come back. I am wondering if it could be female related? She is only 10 years old, however, the pain puts her in tears and in bed for a day or two. Her bowel movements are fine, her eating habits are the same (except for after the pain starts she won`t eat... she won`t do anything but lie there). Hopefully, you can offer some suggestions. I am also booking her a doctors appt as well.

Answer:

I am glad that you are going to have her seen by her doctor, there are many possible causes including constipation and other issues that are typically easily dealt with, but without the ability to examine her, I cannot provide any accurate suggestions.
