Urination

Question:
My 11 year old boy urinates constantly. Is this ok?
Answer:
It depends how often he is going to the restroom. If he is urinating more than once per hour, it would be a good idea to be seen by a pediatric urologist. If he is having wet underwear also, then evaluation is important, particularly if this is a new problem. Some boys urinate frequently because of anxiety, but can hold it if necessary. In other cases it could be a sign of an overactive bladder or can result from constipation.
