Physiological jaundice- will it recur?12/02/2008 |
i have a female baby (caesareaned) born just 5 days prior to the due date of delivery . she weighs 2.75 kgs and was normal during 1st week but after 8 days we observed yellowish skin colour slowly surfacing and when test for bilirubin it was 20. as per paediatric`s suggestion , she underwent phototherapy for about 36 hours and it came down to 13 and was discharged from hospital. will it recur again ? what precautions should i take?
It is unlikely to recur. Bilirubin is eliminated from the body by pooping. As long as baby eats and poos, everything should be fine at this point.
