Is it Safe to Take 750 mg of Phexin During Pregnancy?

12/08/2008 08:38AM

Question:

I am 6 months pregnant. This is the starting of 6th month. One week ago I got fever. I had taken low doses of medicines, but I still have fever and I can't sleep at night bcause of cough. My doctor adviced me to take Phexin 750mg tablets for 5 days. I know this is high dosage tablet. After taking this for 2 days my cough became less. However, I am afraid that is this cause any harm to baby inside? Please give me the reply. I am waiting for your guidance. Thanks

Answer:

This antibiotic is safe in pregnancy. Your infection is a greater risk to your baby than the antibiotic. Taking your medication as prescribed is important for both you and your baby.
