Pea sized lumps in lower leg (calf)

12/15/2008

Question:

A friend of mine has SEVERAL pea sized lumps in his lower leg. He says that his foot on that leg is always cold, but there is a spot that becomes "fevered` at times. When he pushes on his lower leg, there is an indentation that lasts for minutes...almost like playdough. He was told that he may have blood clots, but that they are nothing to worry about. My friend is currently incarcerated, and gets minimal treatment if any, and I am worried that this may be life threatening....please advise.

Answer:

Sounds like there is some swelling in the leg. Hard to say what the pea-sized swellings are - an examination by a physician is in order.
