Extreme pain after a retreated endo tooth

12/16/2008

Question:

I had a successful root canal on #19 ten years ago. recently the tooth started to bother me, after seeing some changes in the bone around the mesial root, the endodontist recommended a retreat of that root.that seemed to go well. 5 days later I am in extreme pain. I have had the bite adjusted. I am taking 800 mg ibuprofen around the clock and Percoset. barey touches the pain.Help!

Answer:

There are many reasons that you can have pain following root canal treatment (especially root canal retreatment). If you are concerned and are having problems managing the pain, I would recommend speaking with the endodontist that treated you.
