Mild bibasiciliar strandy atelectasis01/02/2009 |
dear doctor, is this condition mild bibasialiar atelectasis from my pneamoinia i had from may 2008?if so please elaborate for me please what i should do in followups.thank you
Bibasilar atelectasis means small areas of collapsed lung in the bottom part of both the right and left lung. Sometimes, atelectasis can indicate small areas of scarring. Many things can cause atelectasis, including previous pneumonia. Depending on the appearance of the atelectasis on the x-ray, we often do follow-up x-rays over a two-year period to be completely sure that there is not a small tumor in the lung causing airway blockage with collapse of the lung (atelectasis). Most of the time, atelectasis requires no special treatment or follow-up, however.
