Colonoscopy question01/05/2009 |
I had a normal screening colonoscopy recently. A short while ago I saw something on cnn news that said a colonoscopy can only exam the left side of the colon. Is this true? Do I need more screening? Thanks.
You need to examine your colonoscopy report. The endoscopist will likely describe the quality of your prep, the withdrawal time, and whether or not they could see the right side well. Colonoscopy is meant to examine the whole colon; an experienced endoscopist can usually see the lining of the entire colon if the prep is good, and anatomy is favorable.
