During Isoniazid treament but Pregnant01/08/2009 |
I have been taking the Isoniazid (300 mg/day) to treat TB (it was inactive when diagnosed, but I failed the skin test)for 7 month and 7days. The doctor recommaned me to complete the full 9 month session. But unfortunally, I found out I`m pregnant for 8 weeks. We always wants to have second kids, but I don`t want to be worry during the whole pregency. I would like know, Is it safe to keep the baby? any concern about baby`s health or my health? Thanks for any guidence you can give.
Isoniazid is considered safe during pregnancy. THis drug is used worldwide for the treatment of active and latent tuberculosis during pregnancy. There are no reports of fetal harm from isoniazid. When taking isoniazid during pregnancy you should also take pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) 25-50 mg daily.
