Popped vein in calf01/13/2009 |
How serious is the condition of a popped vein in my calf? I jumped down from about a 2 foot ledge which was quite an impact. A minute later I felt a stinging/itching sensation in my calf muscle and then a place rose up that looked like an insect bite. A couple of minutes passed and a bruise began to form in that area where a small vein had been before. It has been 2 days and the bruise is beginning to fade. Just curious in case this happens again.
It sounds as if you may have traumatized some muscle and small superficial veins. This is why bruising develops after sprains and strains.
