Is 100% Grape Juice (Welch`s) with no sugar added okay for a Diabetic to drink???


Although Welch's 100% Grape Juice states there is "no added sugar", it still contains a considerable amount of natural sugar. There is about 15g of carbohydrate per 4oz in most kinds of juice. You can look at the label of any juice to find out the exact carb content for a given serving (4 or 8 oz usually). You can have a 4oz serving with a meal as long as you count it as 15g of your carbohydrate for that meal. However, since it is raises your blood sugar so quickly, the best option may to have juice only when your blood sugar is low. There are "light" juice options available that have less carbohydrate per serving and there are also drinks that have 0 grams of carbohydrate per serving (Crystal Light, flavored water, etc). You may want to check into these options if you are a juice lover.
