Braces

Retainer too thick.....?

01/16/2009

Question:

I am 41 and have had braces 3 times. I did not wear the retainer as long as I should have, post treatment, the first two times. This time I plan to wear the retainer as instructed. My retainer fits differently that the other two did. It is easily double the thickness and does not cover the roof of my mouth. I have only had it for a week. Should I contact my orthodontist about this to have it remade into what I think it should feel like?

Answer:

Yes, you should discuss this with your orthodontist.
