Teething problems01/30/2009 |
Our son is almost 10months old now and was born with a cyst-like tissue on his lower front gum. We were initially told that it would eventually fall out. However, as months progressed it became a apparent that it was actually a tooth when he was 3 months old. It is still there but our concern is that no other teeth have emerged and the existing one appears to be abnormally big with a sharp end. We are very worried in case this may contribute to the other teeth not emerging and wonder if we should have this one surgically removed.
It is most likely that this is one of your child's baby front teeth. Have him examined by a pediatric dentist, who may take an x-ray to determine exactly which tooth it is and will advise you on any needed treatment.
