Recurring UTIs02/10/2009 |
Dear Doc. I have had 4 UTIs in 6 months. I had an ultrasound on both of my kidneys and bladder which showed nothing and was told were perfectly normal and healthy. About 3 years ago had a procedure to stretch my urethera, but as mentioned my UTIs seem to have returned with a vengence.Could there be something else causing this? I drink plenty of fluids and am careful with my hygiene as well. I am worried. Please help!
I did not get your age or sex. I assume you are a lady who is sexually active. If so, the main cause of recurrent UTI is generally sexually related. A few examples are as follows:
- Unorthodox sexual relation
- Frequent orgasmic relations
- Poor hygiene
- Lack of proper and effective treatment
I recommend you talk to your GP and ask if you are a candidate for long term low dose antibiotic as well as post intercourse antibiotic therapy.
