Arm pressure vs. leg pressure02/23/2009 |
what is the normal range for right arm pressure and left leg pressure?
Optimal blood pressure, measured in the arm, is 120/80 or lower. and a blood pressure of 140/90 or higher is considered hypertension. For many people, the blood pressure should be below 130/80 to reduce the risk for heart disease and stroke.
In most people, the blood pressure is slightly higher in the right arm than the left, but the difference is less than 10 mmHg.
The blood pressure in the legs, when measured lying down, is about 10 to 20 % higher than in the arm.
