What`s the reason for a urologist to do a 24 hour urine test? What are they checking for?
In general Urologists order 24 hour urine tests in patients who have had previous kidney stones to see if a cause can be found. There are other reasons however. To evaluate patients with renal failure and some types of tumors. If in doubt, ask the physician. Tests should not be ordered on patients without explaining why.
