How serious is the following impression on a CT Scan- persisitent rt. lower lobe linear parenchymal density suggestive og parenchymal scars?
Scars in the lung can be due to many conditions, most commonly previous pneumonia or trauma. However, on rare occasion tumors can cause linear parenchymal densities. Often, the radiologist can determine whether the densities are benign or not just by looking at the CT scan. If the densities have been present for at least 2 years, then they are nearly always benign.
