Liposarcoma02/24/2009 |
My brother just had a large mass removed from his back. They say it is Liposarcoma. They say they got all of it. What is the suggested prognosis for him? What would be the next step and what is his life expectancy at this point?
Prognosis depends on the grade of liposarcoma removed, it's size and depth. Risk of recurrence also depends on if any of the margins were positive for tumor and if radiation therapy is to be given. Therefore it would best to discuss these issues with his surgeon or a cancer expert in person. Most major medical centers or University hospitals have someone who has expertise in Sarcoma treatment who you could get a second opinion from if needed.
