Root Canals

Nausea and vomiting after root canal

02/26/2009

Question:

I just had a root canal and I had no pain in the tooth or discomfort during the procedure. As the dentist drilled I started a head ache when he was done it felt as if I been punched in the head and my sinuses hurt. I went home and vomited two days and have had nausea ever since. still have the headache.I went back and the dentist said I have inflamation but my xray which he took last week looked good and I shouldnt be feeling sick from the root canal.what can be happening to me.

Answer:

Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of some medications prescribed after a root canal procedure. Headaches, nausea, and vomiting are unlikely side effects of any root canal procedure itself. I would recommend that you seek the care of a physician ASAP.
