Transmission of E-coli03/12/2009 |
Could my husband have contracted the e-coli virus from me during intercourse if I had a bladder infection and didn`t know it? This was one theory from his urologist after a week stay in the hospital with prostatitis and kidney infection. Blood cultures came back positive for e-coli.
It is very unlikely that your husband contracted an E Coli infection from you, even had you had a symptomatic infection at the time. He should follow up with his urologist after the infection has cleared to ensure the urine is clear and he is emptying the bladder well.
