Hemophilia and Inherited Bleeding Disorders

Are there hemophilia related heart issues?

03/10/2009

Question:

I`m a 23 year old male who is a Hemophiliac. I have undergone a total knee replacement on Jan 28th. Since then I have not felt like myself. Everyday I feel weak, drained, and short of breath. I saw a cardiologist because my heart has been averaging about 105bpm resting and goes up to almost 160bpm when just standing or doing an activity. I had an ECHO and that came out normal, and after about 5 or more EKG`s through out Feb. My cardiologist said it looks like INAPPROPRIATE SINUS TACHYCARDIA. I`ve never had any major heart issues, and my blood pressure has been normal for most of the time when it has been checked. The highest being around 143/92 the lowest 88/53. I was check for "PE" and infections and everything was normal. He gave me Zebeta to slow my heart. Could this happen as a complication of hemophilia?

Answer:

Thank you for visiting NetWellness. On this site, NetWellness experts try to answer general questions about health. Only a health professional performing a thorough clinical exam is able to evaluate your symptoms. However, I can tell you that having a low clotting factor level (Hemophilia) does not cause fatigue or rapid heart beat.  There has to be something else causing these symptoms.  Please continue to follow up with your health care provider.
