Gum pain following removal of wisdom teeth
I had 3 wisdom teeth removed on 3/6/09. My 2 bottom ones and upper right one. It has been five days and the only pain I feel is in my gums. It feels as if I am continually being poked by needles and my back teeth still feel numb. My oral surgeon looked in my mouth today and said I do not have an infecton and has never heard of the symptoms I am displaying. He is assuming it is a dry socket. He has since packed the socket but I fell absolutely no relief in my gums. I am wondering if this is an odd effect of the novacain? Please help!
This sounds like a surgical issue rather than an anesthetic one. It is possible that this is a minor nerve injury from local anesthesia but the distribution of your symptoms would not suggest this as a primary possibility.
