Infant teeth grinding03/17/2009 |
My daughter is almost 2 and has been grinding her teeth (especially when she sleeps)since before she turned 1. What could cause her to do this and is there a way to get her to stop? Could it be a sign of something medically wrong and should I bring this up to her pediatrician and/or dentist? Thank you!
Grinding teeth (also called "bruxism") is very common in children and rarely causes any long-term problems. There is no evidence that tooth grinding is associated with any other health problems. Most children do grow out of this habit so parents are advised to ignore it.
