Puberty

Question:

My 11 year old grand-daughter is worrying my daughter at the moment. She cries for no reason and when asked what is wrong she doesn`t know. She gets angry and raises her voice when you ask her why she feels like this. She also thinks everyone is against her and no one loves her. Are that all signs of puberty and what can we do to help her. Does she need to see a doctor.

Answer:

These may be related to her hormonal status, or may be related to several other issues.  I would suggest that she be seen by her primary care provider or perhaps an adolescent medicine specialist to help sort out what may be going on.
