Urinary Tract Cancers |
Possible Bladder Cancer?03/31/2009 |
My brother is 40 years old and is a smoker. For the last year he`s had recurring pain in his lower abdomen and he thought it was just a bladder/kidney infection. Never had it checked out. His stomach became so painful recently he had to go to the hospital and he was diagnosed with a bladder and urinary tract infection. They also found a mass on his bladder and infection around his intestines. He is scheduled to see a surgeon. Could this be cancer or just a really bad infection?
Bladder cancer's median age at diagnosis is approximately 70 years so your brother is very young for this diagnosis. I suggest that he see a urologist to rule out bladder cancer while he sees the surgeon. I think we both feel your brother should stop smoking.
