Infertility

Pregnancy chance

04/09/2009

Question:

Ive been tracking ovulation with a opk. I received a positive LH surge at 7:30pm on Saturday. I had intercourse on following Monday at 11:30pm approx 52 hours after surge detected. What are the chances of pregnancy or did i likely miss it all together?

Answer:

Ovulation usually occurs within 24-48 hours of a positive LH surge.  Because of this variation, we usually recommend having relations 18 and 42 hours following your surge (this covers for both early as well as later ovulation).  It is still possible that you are pregnant.  If you do not have a period 15 days after your surge, I would recommend doing a pregnancy test.
