Root Canals |
Reinfection after root canal/abscess?04/16/2009 |
I recently had retreatment of a root canal on a front tooth. It was originally done about 10 years ago. My only symptom was pain high up in my gum almost right under my nose. I think I had the infection for at least 5 years. The endodontist told me that since I had the infection so long, it might take a while for this pain to go away and heal. After the root canal was finished, it actually felt better, which was about 2-3 weeks ago. Within the past 2 days, the pain seems to be coming back. I still do not have my permanent crown, as it is still in the lab. My temporary crown keeps coming loose. My concern is that the temporary coming loose could have leaked bacteria in again. Could this happen in such a short amount of time? I am also wondering if this could be an abcess that needs apicoectomy? The endodontist did not feel an abscess, but said if the pain does not go away, I might need an apicoectomy. Any info would be greatly appreciated!Thank you!
If you are currently under the care of an endodontist and have questions directly related to your care, you should address the questions to your provider.
