High Protein Levels

04/28/2009

Question:

My recent labwork revealed raised globulin levels (4.10) and low a/g ratio (0.9). All other bloodwork was normal and I recently had a hida scan for suspected gallbladder problems (due to upper right side pain), that came back normal with an ejection fraction of 45%.

Should these number be evaluated further?

Thanks!

Answer:

It's probably worth talking to your primary care provider about these values further, especially if they are persistently out of the normal range. The values of these laboratory tests can fluctuate greatly depending on nutrition status, your immune system, etc.
