Mold and penicillin05/13/2009 |
i have an allergy to penicillin and recently had a strange thing happen. i had some older cheese, cut off the mold and eat some. a few bits latter I was sick and there was some blood in my vomit. could this be part of my allergy?
There is no cross reactivity between penicillin the drug and penicillium the mold. The symptoms you had in response to the moldy cheese could be due to an allergic reaction or a food intolerance. I would recommend follow-up with an allergist who can help determine cause of the reaction you experienced with the moldy cheese.
