Bleeding and Clotting Disorders |
Extremely low platelet count05/01/2009 |
I have recently had a minor surgery removing infected milk ducts (two). Immediately following the surgery I had excessive and prolonged bleeding; I also experienced small bruising (petechia) about the body including in my mouth and the white of my eyes. I had a CBC done which revealed that I had a platelet count of 11.1 k/ul. What could be the cause of these symptoms?
Many things could cause these symptoms. If your platelet count was 11,000 you should have been seen right away by a blood specialist.
