Cottonball in throat05/08/2009 |
Hi. For the last two weeks it has felt like I have a cottonball stuck in my throat. In the mirror I can see the very back of my tongue is red and bumpy(it`s hard to see without gagging). I`m just curious if this is some sort of allergy. It doesn`t hurt, but I can feel it whenever I move my tongue or swallow and it`s bothersome. Thank you
It is possible that you are having some allergy symptoms. I don't know based on what you describe, but patients with allergies will often have post-nasal drainage and feel something in their throat. If this is the case, treating your nose and your allergies will help your symptoms. If this doesn't go away with allergy treatment, it may be irritation or a viral syndrome. The best place to start is with an allergist or your primary care physician.
