CT scan of 5mm nodule05/13/2009 |
Three months ago a scan showed a few 4-5mm lung nodules on right lower lung. I had a ct scan with contrast today and waiting for results. Will contrast determine if they are cancer? Also, can a CT technician see if its cancer while he is administering the scan? I`m freaking out trying to read into his actions and words after my scan. HELP! I`m 46, 1/2 pack smoker for 20 years. Quit in Jan.!
A 5mm nodule is likely not cancer, but needs to be followed with serial CT's. Contrast does not help determine if the nodule is cancer and I usually get CT's without contrast. The tech cannot tell anything while doing the scan as they are not trained to read them.
I hope this helps and congratulations on stopping smoking.
