Black gums and feels like a `bruise`?05/11/2009 |
i have a full upper denture and a partial lower. in the last couple of years I have noticed blackness within the flesh of my gums where my bottom molars used to be on one side. Should I be worried?
I do not know your race but black pigmentation is a physiological phenomena for some races. You may have lost it after tooth extraction and it may be coming back with time.
If it is symmetrical (meaning both right and left sites of your jaws) and you have a similar thing around your teeth, it is probably physiological. But it is hard to tell you what it is without seeing it. Thus, I recommend seeing a dentist because you noticed it as a "new formation".
