Removal of Scar Masses From Tongue05/11/2009 |
Hello. I have scar masses on the sides of my tongue likely resultant of inadvertent trauma such as biting. The ones on the right side have become irritating and I am considering consulting an Oral & Maxillofacial sugeon to have them removed. Is this type of surgery major? Will it require general anesthetic? Will I need to take time off from work to heal? Thank you for any information you can provide.
These questions can only be answered by the surgeon that will be doing the surgery. The situation that you have described can be a very minor surgery which will require little or no lost work time to something more serious. Consult with your oral surgeon to determine the extent of your surgery and what your recovery time will be.
