Knee injury05/21/2009 |
i was in a soccer game when i stopped short and hit a guy, my foot stuck into the turf and i hyperextended my left knee. there is much noticable swelling and sometimes sharp pain going down the left side of my left knee down to my ankle, i have been icing and heating it.i was wondering if that is the right diagnosis on the injury and what i can do to heal it quick.
You should be evaluated by a physician to determine the extent of your injuries - which may include an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and/or a meniscus tear (cartilage injury), and/or a fracture (bony injury) - which should then lead to an appropriate diagnosis, on which an appropriate treatment plan and relevant prognosis can then be based.
As long as your knee is swollen, continued icing is preferable to applying heat.
