Gum Graft09/09/2009 |
I recently had a gum graft. It`s been 2 weeks. I went for my check up today to remove the bandage. The graft is taking well, and for that I`m very happy. However, there are gaps where the gums are supposed to be in the spaces where the teeth meet. Is this normal? Will it fill in?
Sorry for my delayed answer. You are probably feeling better by now. But the gap you see between your teeth generally occurs due to underlying bone loss. It cannot be filled since soft tissue graft will not stay up without underlying bone support. You probably have some more fill since you had the surgery with the soft tissue maturation. However, it will not fill the space completely if you have bone loss to start with.
