Baby With Sore Red Holes in His Gum05/26/2009 |
Hello - My baby boy (10 months) had a bunch of the cottage cheese looking stuff (but it wasn`t white - it was more of a cream to brownish color) - so i think it might be thrush?? I am not sure, I took a cotton swab and wiped it away the best I could, and I know it hurt - and after I wiped it away it left holes in his gums and they are really red, sore, and they bleed often. This is the first night I wiped the stuff off, I do not know if it will come back - but in the meantime - what do I do about his gums?
Usually oral candidiasis (thrush) does not cause bleeding, so you should make an appointment to see either a pediatrician or an oral pathologist so a definite diagnosis can be made. Without a diagnosis, it would be impossible to recommend treatment.
