Recovery time for shoulder surgery

06/15/2009

Question:

I have had surgery on my shoulder. The superior labrum was reattached with an anchor. How long is the average recovery time?

Answer:

Typically six to twelve months, but you will be able to do normal activities usually by 3 months.

It also depends on how physically fit you were before the surgery, how long the injury limited your shoulder motion before it was fixed, and what level of activity you will be returning to when you are finished.
