Precocious Puberty and Asymetric Development08/18/2009 |
My Intellectually Gifted 7yr old son has started to show signs of Precocious Puberty, is there any link with this being another symptom of the asymetric development that causes the giftedness?
Thank you very much for the question. It is very difficult to explicitly state whether there is a relationship between precocious puberty. However, I can tell you that some research conducted by a Dr. Lorah Dorn found that children undergoing premature puberty tended to have lower IQs and more behavior problems compared to typically developing children. It is difficult to say how this relates to an individual child. Certainly, more research is needed in this area.
