Very light period

06/16/2009

Question:

I am always very regular and have reasonably heavy periods. For the last few months my period has been lighter and lighter. This month it is very light and brown. I took a pregnancy test last month and it was negative, I have not had sexual intercourse since before my last period. I am concerned as I have been more fatigued lately and have had bloating. No weight gain over the last few months, no tenderness of the breasts and no nausea. I am extremely stressed as I am apart from my husband and have started a new job. I am guessing it may be stress, but am looking for possible alternatives.

Answer:

Color changes are usually quite normal with periods. And period changes, as well as fatigue (depression?), would not be surprising, since you said you have been "extremely stressed." You may want to talk with a counselor, clergy person, or even a good friend to help you, since you and your husband are apart.
