06/18/2009

Question:

sudden swelling of neck under front of jaw area, after 6 weeks of radiation and 6 mos of extensive chemotherapy for throat cancer, looks like a goiter, feels squishy, showed my oncologist and he said it appeared to be redundant, can you explain what this could be?

Answer:

It should be evaluated by a head and neck surgeon. It could be just radiation effect, infection or recurrent disease.  It needs to be evaluated to be sure.
