Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders

Vesticular Neuronitis

07/02/2009

Question:

Hi,

I`ve recently been diagnosed with vesticular neuronitis and am wondering that; given my job within the Navy and the fact that more often than not I have to be out on a ship, should I be worried about a recurrent vertigo attack?

Answer:

Hopefully, you should not have long-term consequences from your vestibular neuronitis. You will need to see a vestibular physical therapist and be physically active for one hour / day, 6 days / week. Both things will increase your brain's compensation. If you have recurrent vertigo, you will need to think about Meniere's disease or other problems.
