Eye pain and twitching on the left side only

Question:

When I woke up this morning, there was moderate pain in my left eye, and after looking for a scratch, etc., I noticed that there s considerable twitching under the affected eye. It`s been less than 2 months since I saw an eye doctor, just for general vision health (I`m 60 and don`t have to wear even "cheaters") and the left eye was found to be my stronger eye. Since that visit, I have had no problems or issues with either eye, other than a "droopy lid" condition I`ve had for years. My vision is not affected by this, nor is my eye red. What could be causing these symptoms?

Answer:

See your eye doctor. It sounds like you might have a foreign object stuck under your left eyelid. This may be an eyelash, tear debris, or something that blew into your eye.
